Press & Verification Kit

Everything a reporter needs to check this record.

This page exists so you don't have to take anything on faith. Below: the summary, the documented facts with their exhibit anchors, what is verifiable independently, the findings that cut against me, and how to get the underlying evidence.

The summary, in one paragraph

In 2016, while living with his then-partner Elizabeth Anne Howell — a registered nurse then in a pharmacology sequence — Kris Turner suffered a catastrophic, medically unexplained collapse. Cedars-Sinai ruled out cancer and genetic causes and referred the case to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office on suspicion of poisoning. In the same window, life-insurance applications were taken on Turner and on the children without his consent. The sheriff's office closed the matter in weeks. In the decade since, Oregon child-welfare records show two founded abuse/neglect dispositions against the mother and an explicit finding of no wrongdoing by Turner, while a 2024 court-appointed evaluation found the children "not safe" and recommended custody to the father — a recommendation never enforced. Turner has documented the sequence in 1,122 Bates-numbered exhibits.

Five documented facts, with anchors

FactSource of record
The illness was referred to police as a suspected poisoning. Cedars-Sinai worked the case across heme/onc, rheumatology, toxicology and primary care; cancer and genetic causes were excluded.Treating-hospital records; referral to Douglas County SO, 2016–17
The "liver disease" explanation used to close the case has since been excluded. 2024 HFE genetic testing returned negative; a January 2025 liver biopsy (Queen's Medical Center, reviewed at USC Keck) found no hemosiderin — ruling out hereditary hemochromatosis and iron overload.Genetic testing 2024; pathology January 2025
Two founded dispositions were entered against the mother — and Turner was cleared. July 20 and August 7, 2022 (founded, mother); August 1, 2022 (Turner: "no information… to suggest that Mr. Turner failed to provide adequate care").Oregon DHS, 238-page release ref. X3AH47V
A court-appointed evaluator found the children "not safe" in the mother's care and recommended sole legal custody to the father. It was never enforced.Custody evaluation, 2024
Life-insurance applications were taken on the children. Broker correspondence supplied the four children's heights and weights; policies were finalized December 30, 2016.Carrier and broker email trail, 2016

What you can verify without us

Findings that cut against me — disclosed up front

A record that only contains favorable facts isn't a record. These are disclosed in every filing and they are disclosed here:

How the record is graded

Every assertion carries a tier, and nothing is stated beyond its source:

VERIFIED — government or institutional documentSWORN — declaration under 28 U.S.C. § 1746DOCUMENTED — record held by the complainantACCOUNT — first-person, labelled as such

Where the record conflicts with itself, the conflict is stated rather than resolved in my favor. Minor children are never named, pictured, or identifiable anywhere on this site.

Getting the evidence

Journalists

The Bates index, the timeline with source citations, and specific exhibits are available for review. Tell me what you're testing and I'll send the underlying documents rather than a summary.

Attorneys, investigators, oversight

The complete named evidentiary record — exhibits, Bates index, statute matrix — is held in an access-controlled vault and released on verified request.

Why it isn't all just posted

The full record contains material about minor children, including juvenile-court matters that are confidential by law. Publishing it would identify them and would re-victimize them. The public tier carries the pattern and the sourcing; the protected tier carries the names. That line is deliberate and it does not move.
